Job summary

Leidos is seeking a senior AWS Cloud Engineer to drive cloud architecture, integration, and deployment of AWS offerings across security enclaves. The candidate will lead architectural design, provide guidance, and support implementation for complex AWS environments across DoD-related programs.

The role demands deep experience in AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, OpenShift, etc.), strong documentation, and collaboration with stakeholders to meet security and performance targets.

Qualifications

• Requires TS/SCI with ability to obtain Poly CI.
• DoD 8570 Certification Compliance (IAT Level 2/3).
• BS degree plus 15+ years in consulting/designing distributed solutions; or 4 years additional experience in lieu of degree.
• Experience creating baselines of System Engineering documentation (VDDs, diagrams).
• Familiar with Jira, Confluence, RocketChat; strong AWS/Cloud integration background.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in design and implementation of AWS architectures with focus on security and operational readiness (ATO).
• Review requirements based on cyber security posture and industry best practices.
• Document architectural designs and implementation plans for reuse across teams.
• Direct project planning and communication with Program and Customer stakeholders.
• Analyze cloud system configurations and enterprise connections for compliance and optimization.
• Support engineering review boards and validate artifacts for architecture compliance.
• Create repeatable system architectures and implementation documentation for multiple mission areas.

Job description

The Leidos Air and FS2 Team team has an opening for an senior AWS Cloud Engineer to work on cloud architecture, integration, and deployment of AWS service offerings across security and technical enclaves. The team is involved in the deployment and maintenance of multiple operational cloud deployed software solutions. A successful candidate will have experience across complex AWS Environments and be able to provide analysis and recommendations for architectural and configuration approaches. In addition, they will be expected to provide leadership, senior expertise, guidance, documentation and implementation support as AWS technologies are rolled out, leveraging industry best practices.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in the design and implementation of AWS system architectures to include operational status and security of government systems (ATO).
• Reviews and provides input to system requirements based on cyber security posture.
• Compiles industry best practices and lessons learned into future iterations and new designs.
• Direct project planning and communication with key Program and Customer technical stakeholders on technology implementation
• Provides architectural analysis of cloud systems, configurations, and enterprise connections.
• Supports the Engineering Review Board, evaluating artifacts for architectural compliance.
• Creates systemic and repeatable systems architecture and implementation documentation for use across mission areas/teams.
• Provides broad-based experience in the systems engineering lifecycle and applies the experience to specific AWS cloud initiatives relating to architectural design and development.
• Resolves architecture implementation issues during integration and test.
• Provides support directly or through team management, including triaging system outages and ticket support resolution
• Advises and assists teams to deploy and configure collection services and tools with 99.9% up-time
• Works with team members to move data to the appropriate data stores and monitors dashboard metrics including costs, computational utilization and other future business needs
• Validates and manages government systems changes; create, run and validate end-to-end testing

Basic Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance with ability to obtain Poly CI
• DoD 8570 Certification Compliance (IAT Level 2/3)
• Requires BS degree and & 15+ years’ experience consulting, designing, and implementing distributed solutions and 5+ years’ experience with cloud-based solutions (Cloud, SOA, Web-Services) including virtualization environment, network and operating system experience OR 4 years of additional experience in lieu of degree
• Direct experience in creation and baseline of System Engineering documentation creation (VDDs, diagrams, etc.)
• Familiar with team collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, RocketChat)
• Experience in AWS/Cloud technologies and integration
• Experience in Grafana
• Subject Matter Expertise understanding across AWS cloud technologies including: EC2, PaaS (OpenShift), Lamdas, S3 buckets, Reserved Instances, etc.
• Understanding of code baseline management
• Utilization of the following: Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Python, Gitlab, CloudFormation, Zabbix, HPFortify, ACAS, PostgreSQL, Scrum, Kanban, Terraform
• Knowledge of Systems, Architectural, SW Development and SW Sustainment Practices
• Proactive self-starter demonstrates a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
• Organizational Skills: Can plan and prioritize work, follow tasks to their logical conclusion and ensure everything has been correctly satisfied to standard. Great attention to detail.
• Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with team members and clients, verbally and in writing. Able to present ideas in a variety of ways depending upon audience and context.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of SFA organization; Aeronautical data and mission
• Experience with NGA cloud-based and Enterprise architecture
• Direct experience with AWS Service integration approaches and deployment patterns (ex: AWS FSx, AWS SSM, AWS Transit Gateway)
• Experience in team management, creation and maintain product and capability roadmaps
• AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Developer, Certifications
• Experience with IC Cloud Architecture implementation methodologies
• Native cloud templating services like AWS Cloud Formation
• Experience with Aeronautical datasets
• Experience with CI/CD Pipelines and projects
• Experience with Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) process of evaluating solution options

Pay Range

Pay Range $154,050.00 - $278,475.00
