Job summary

Summit Human Capital seeks a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to drive modernization, migration, and the introduction of agentic AI capabilities for a banking client. You will provide long-term technical leadership of the AWS architecture and estate, in collaboration with an implementation partner.

The role emphasizes architectural leadership, security, cost governance, and mentoring engineers, with a focus on resilient, scalable cloud platforms and high availability.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience in cloud engineering, architecture, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience.
• Deep expertise in AWS networking, IAM, security, multi-account environments, and Landing Zone architecture.
• Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Experience with ECS/Fargate, Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing highly available and disaster recovery architectures.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, observability, automation, and cloud operations.
• Proven ability to mentor engineers and provide senior technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural leadership across AWS platform engineering, workload modernization, migration, and ongoing operations.
• Work closely with the implementation partner to ensure effective knowledge transfer and a smooth transition to customer ownership.
• Design and govern cloud networking, shared services, infrastructure, resiliency, and integration patterns.
• Establish practical standards for security, identity, observability, automation, and cost optimization.
• Support the deployment and management of agentic solutions using Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and related AWS services.
• Coach customer engineers, close cloud-engineering skill gaps, and help teams become increasingly self-sufficient.
• Collaborate with Information Security, infrastructure, architecture, and business product teams.
• Serve as a senior technical resource on the platform engineering team and help resolve complex cross-team issues.

This position has the exciting opportunity to provide long-term technical leadership of the AWS architecture and estate, working alongside an implementation partner during a major transformation. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

Requirements

• 8-12 years of experience in cloud engineering, architecture, infrastructure, or platform engineering
• 5+ years of strong hands-on AWS experience

The hourly pay range for this position is $75 - $85, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
