Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to design, implement, optimize and manage advanced cloud infrastructure across multi-cloud environments. You will provide hands-on support, develop IaC solutions and guide application teams in cloud adoption.

The role requires scripting, cloud architecture, problem-solving, and the ability to lead complex projects while mentoring junior engineers. On-call responsibilities are included and a strong security focus is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 4+ years cloud experience, or HS diploma/GED with 8+ years in cloud.
• Experience across multiple cloud platforms is preferred.
• Strong design, security, and DevOps capabilities required.

• Cloud Infrastructure Management – Deploys and manages cloud resources, optimizing configurations for security, performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Cloud Solution Design – Leads the design and deployment of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures for critical applications
• Infrastructure as Code – Defines and implements best practices for IaC, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation
• Support - mentor team members providing guidance and technical leadership on complex projects. Engage in research and continuous improvement initiatives to adopt new technologies and best practices. Maintain and share technical documentation to support knowledge transfer within the team. Provides 24/7 on-call support to ensure the availability and reliability of cloud infrastructure

Additional Information

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in cloud engineering OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in cloud engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience or MS with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with multiple cloud platforms is a big plus
• 10+ years of progressive infrastructure, cloud engineering, or platform engineering experience.
• 7+ years of hands-on Azure engineering and architecture experience.
• Proven experience leading enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.
• Demonstrated success designing and operating large‑scale cloud platforms supporting critical business applications.
• Deep understanding of cloud architecture frameworks, governance, security, and operational excellence.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership across organizations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to executive leadership.
