Job summary

Accenture Federal Services in Reston/Chantilly, VA seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer to architect, design and implement scalable cloud solutions. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure mission-aligned delivery.

Required is 10+ years IT experience with 5+ years AWS cloud engineering, including GovCloud. Strong IaC, security, RMF, and scripting skills are essential. This role is onsite five days a week in Reston, VA.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT/infrastructure experience with 5+ years hands-on AWS cloud engineering.
• Experience designing and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure in classified gov environments.
• Hands-on with AWS services (EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudFormation).
• GovCloud and other classified AWS environments experience.
• IaC experience: Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible.
• Cloud security controls incl. IAM, SSO, federation, baselines, and auditing.
• Linux/Windows hardening per security and RMF requirements.
• Scripting in Python, PowerShell, Bash or similar; strong troubleshooting.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Job Description

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will be a key player in architecting, designing, and implementing cloud solutions that empower our clients to leverage the full potential of cloud technologies. You will be responsible for the development of a robust and scalable cloud infrastructure, serve as a technical mentor who guides, supports, and accelerates the professional growth of junior engineers, all while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery to the missions.

Work is 5 days onsite in Reston, VA.

The Work You’ll Do

• Support the design and implementation of cloud-based architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security in alignment with industry best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and optimize cloud infrastructure.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to a team of cloud engineers, reviewing their work, and helping them solve complex technical challenges.
• Engage with stakeholders to translate technical requirements into actionable solutions, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and stay current on evolving cloud technologies and compliance standards.
• Provide requirement decomposition/definition and engineering expertise to assure program requirements are developed and sustained.
• Prepare operating instructions and end user training.
• Develop and implement cloud governance strategies, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Lead efforts to automate deployment, monitoring, and management processes, enhancing efficiency and reducing manual intervention.
• Act as a subject matter expert on cloud engineering best practices, participating in knowledge sharing and contributing to the company’s technical community.
• Participate in all phases of risk management assessments and architecture.

Here’s What You Need

• 10+ years of relevant IT, systems or infrastructure experience, including 5+ years of hands‑on AWS cloud engineering experience.
• Experience designing, building, supporting and troubleshooting AWS cloud infrastructure in classified government environments.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS services such as EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda or CloudFormation.
• Experience supporting AWS GovCloud and/or other classified AWS environments.
• Strong infrastructure-as-code experience using Terraform, CloudFormation or Ansible.
• Experience implementing cloud security controls, including IAM, SSO, federation, security baselines and account‑auditing policies.
• Experience securing and hardening Linux or Windows cloud systems in accordance with applicable security and RMF requirements.
• Scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell, Bash or a similar language.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in complex cloud environments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points If You Have

• Experience supporting AWS environments across multiple classification domains.
• Experience creating, managing and hardening Amazon Machine Images or other cloud‑based OS images.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or EKS.
• Experience with microservices or serverless architecture.
• Experience with Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
• AWS cloud certification.
• Experience providing architecture guidance or supporting large‑scale cloud‑modernization initiatives.

Security Clearance

• Active TS/SCI with Poly security clearance is required.

The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below.
