Job summary

Leidos is leading the modernization of defense and intelligence technology from its Digital Modernization sector in the United States. We seek a Cloud Innovation Solution Engineer to architect cloud infrastructure for the Coast Guard in Alexandria, VA, guiding transformation with secure, scalable cloud native solutions and DevOps practices.

You’ll mentor teams, drive migrations, and enforce zero-trust principles while aligning with SOC 2, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years in IT; experience can substitute degree.
  • Customer-facing experience is essential.
  • 12+ years administering cloud-based apps (MS O365, SharePoint, Azure AD, AWS).
  • UiPath experience is a plus.
  • Windows Server administration and related services.
  • Strong Active Directory, Azure AD, and SAML knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Experience with UiPath, Ansible, AWS Console, Elastic, Splunk, Jira, Confluence, Git, Bitbucket, SaaS tools.
  • Ability to onboard customer log-data from AWS/Azure to analysis environments.

Primary Tasks

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Cloud Engineer with expertise in AWS, Azure, and UiPath. This individual will be responsible for developing in a scalable cloud‑native solutions, and ensuring best practices across architecture, development, deployment, and security. This is a hands‑on technical role that requires rolling up your sleeves to architect, code, debug, and mentor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop in scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform
  • Create reference architectures, design patterns, and technical standards for cloud implementations
  • Mentor, guide and supervise development teams on cloud‑native application design and deployment
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and assess their potential impact on organizational goals
  • Drive adoption of DevOps practices, infrastructure as code, and automation frameworks
  • Lead large‑scale cloud migration projects from planning through execution
  • Assess legacy systems and design modernization strategies including containerization and microservices
  • Develop migration methodologies and ensure minimal organizational disruption during transitions
  • Facilitate customer onboarding and implement a consistent pathway to cloud adoption
  • Optimize application performance and reliability in cloud environments
  • Design secure cloud architectures implementing zero‑trust principles and defense‑in‑depth strategies
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.) and regulatory requirements
  • Implement identity and access management solutions and security monitoring frameworks
  • Conduct security assessments and remediate vulnerabilities in cloud environments
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams including development, operations, security, and product management
  • Present architectural designs and recommendations to executive leadership
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience in an IT‑discipline. Experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in a customer‑facing position.
  • Minimum 12+ year of Administration experience with cloud‑based applications (MS O365, SharePoint, Azure AD, AWS).
  • Experience with UiPath is a plus.
  • Experience administering Windows Server, and related services.
  • Strong understanding Active Directory, Azure AD, SAML and the standards, procedures, and processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Experience with UiPath, Ansible, AWS console, Elastic, AWS, Azure, Jira, Confluence, Git, Bitbucket and various cloud Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings.
  • Experience onboarding customer log‑data from AWS and Azure to on‑premise or cloud‑based analysis environments such as Elastic or Splunk.
  • Ability to obtain an Entry of Duty (EOD) Public Trust.
  • Perform operational and day‑to‑day administrative support functions, including troubleshooting issues and support of change and problem management processes.
  • Support AWS Cloud hosted applications (including deployments, patches, security checks, and maintenance).
  • Provide support and troubleshoot AWS deployed applications.
  • Provide guidance in developing and optimizing administrative processes and procedures.
  • Work with SMEs and Security Team in defining secure‑based cloud architecture.
  • Create and update standard operating procedures, and operational processes.
  • Windows Server creation, configuration, upgrade, migration, and patching.

Clearance: This position requires candidates to obtain a Public Trust and will accept up to TS/SCI Certifications. Candidate must, at a minimum, have one of these certifications: MCSE (Server), Certified AWS SysAdmin, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Developer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AWS Certified Security, Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect.

Pay Range

Pay Range: Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
