Job summary

LexisNexis Risk Solutions in Dublin, Ireland, is hiring a Senior Cloud Database Engineer II to ensure reliability, performance, and security of cloud data platforms powering business-critical applications. You will apply hands-on cloud database expertise across AWS services and mentor peers.

You will design automated recovery, implement monitoring, and contribute to operational excellence through on-call support, incident response, and post-mortems.

Qualifications

• Experience with managed cloud database services (Aurora MySQL, RDS, Redshift, DynamoDB, or ElastiCache).
• Strong SQL skills including design, tuning and indexing.
• Proficient in scripting/automation (Python or Bash).
• Experience designing monitoring and observability solutions.
• Understanding of HA, backup, and DR concepts.
• Experience with on-call rotation and incident response.
• Experience with IaC (CloudFormation or Terraform) and CI/CD for DB changes.
• Experience implementing database security and access governance.

Responsibilities

• Create monitoring queries and establish service-level baselines for critical database services.
• Design and implement solutions that improve availability, fault tolerance, and recoverability across AWS database platforms.
• Participate in on-call rotation to assist in the recovery of major production incidents and act as a senior escalation point.
• Plan and execute failover testing within and between AWS regions.
• Automate the recovery of systems and components using Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management.
• Implement automation and execute code in production environments to reduce manual effort and operational toil.
• Design and maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions, including reusable, code-defined dashboards.
• Contribute to post-mortems, root cause analyses, reliability engineering documentation, and mentoring of junior engineers.

The Database Engineering team is seeking a Senior Cloud Database Engineer II to help ensure the reliability, performance, security, and scalability of cloud data platforms supporting business-critical and customer-facing applications. In this role, you will combine reliability engineering and hands-on cloud database expertise across AWS services, helping to improve service resilience, automate operational processes, and support high-performing production environments. You will also collaborate across engineering teams and provide guidance to colleagues while contributing to operational excellence.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience operating managed cloud database services such as Aurora MySQL, Amazon RDS, Amazon Redshift, Amazon DynamoDB, or Amazon ElastiCache
• Strong SQL skills with experience in database design, optimization, and troubleshooting, including schema design, query tuning, indexing, locks, and performance bottlenecks
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or a comparable language
• Experience designing and implementing monitoring and observability solutions
• Solid understanding of high availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery concepts
• Experience participating in on-call rotation, incident response, and root cause analysis
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using CloudFormation or Terraform and CI/CD practices for database change management
• Experience implementing database security, access governance, resiliency patterns, or supporting high-availability production environments
