Job summary

ClickHouse is seeking exceptional software engineers to build and maintain a cloud‑native, serverless database platform on the public cloud. You will collaborate with the core database team and other data plane groups to advance infrastructure that scales and remains highly available.

We value 5+ years of distributed systems development, production experience with Go/C++/Java, and hands‑on work with cloud providers (AWS/GCP/Azure).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant software development industry experience building and operating scalable, fault‑tolerant, distributed systems.
• Production experience with programming languages like Go, C++ or Java.
• Expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their infrastructure as a service offering (e.g., EC2).
• Experience with Data Storage, Ingestion, and Transformation (Spark, Kafka or similar tools).
• You are passionate about solving data problems at Scale and have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build a cutting‑edge cloud‑native database platform on top of the public cloud.
• Work on our in‑house Kubernetes operator to support seamless infrastructure management.
• Improve the metrics pipeline and build systems to generate better statistics and recommendations.
• Work closely with our ClickHouse core development team and other data plane teams, partnering with them to support infrastructure use cases as well as other internal infrastructure improvements.
• Architecting and building a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure.

The Cloud Scaling team is dedicated to implementing robust capabilities within the ClickHouse cloud environment. We seek exceptional software engineers to develop and maintain the infrastructure to transform ClickHouse into a fully functional serverless database solution. Collaborating closely with the core database team, we are actively working on evolving ClickHouse into a cloud‑native database system. Additionally, we engage with other cloud teams to drive continuous improvements in cloud infrastructure for enhanced performance and scalability.

What will you do?

About you:

• 5+ years of relevant software development industry experience building and operating scalable, fault‑tolerant, distributed systems.
• Production experience with programming languages like Go, C++ or Java.
• You are not a stranger to PagerDuty On‑call, debugging things in production and are a strong problem‑solver.
• Expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their infrastructure as a service offering (e.g., EC2).
• Experience with Data Storage, Ingestion, and Transformation (Spark, Kafka or similar tools).
• You are passionate about solving data problems at Scale.
• Experience working with distributed systems.
• You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within and across engineering teams.

Compensation

For roles based in the United States, the typical starting salary range for this position is listed above. In certain locations, such as the San Francisco Bay Area and the New York City Metro Area, a premium market range may apply, as listed.

These salary ranges reflect what we reasonably and in good faith believe to be the minimum and maximum pay for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation may be higher or lower than the amounts listed, and the ranges may be subject to future adjustments.
