The University of Chicago’s Globus Operations group seeks a senior engineer to design, build, and operate cloud infrastructure behind a research‑computing platform used by hundreds of institutions worldwide.

Join a hybrid AWS‑based environment combining SaaS and PaaS with Terraform, CloudFormation, Python, and Ansible. You’ll own automation, security, and on‑call incident response while collaborating across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• MInimum degree in a related field.
• 5–7 years of work experience in a related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Define cloud infrastructure architecture across production and development environments.
• Develop, test, and maintain infrastructure as code (Python, Bash, Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Maintain machine-image and deployment supply chains (Packer, AWS CodeBuild).
• Operate monitoring and logging (Nagios/NRPE, CloudWatch) and migrate toward Prometheus.
• Administer IAM roles, policies, and cross-account trust in AWS Organization.
• Lead incident response, on-call rotation, and root-cause analyses.
