The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine seeks a Senior Clinical Veterinarian to lead the clinical care of mice, guide welfare, and help maintain AAALAC accreditation. You will work with CMQ and other veterinarians to ensure compliance with laws and institutional policies while supporting ongoing research and education.

This onsite role requires veterinary licensure in the U.S., ACLAM eligibility, and a minimum of three years of laboratory animal experience.

Qualifications

• DVM/VMD degree and US veterinary license; eligible for state licensure and USDA accreditation as required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a laboratory animal veterinarian.
• Board eligibility or certification in ACLAM is a plus.
• Strong ability to read and interpret laws and codes for regulatory compliance.
• Excellent initiative, organization, and written/spoken communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs clinical care of JAX mice and may provide bio-methods or surgical training.
• Participates in Animal Care and Use Committee protocol reviews and policy writing.
• Responds to questions about care, welfare, and health of mice from staff and customers.
• Collaborates on research studies with CMQ, JMCRS, and other CMQ members.
• Investigates unusual clinical cases with pathologists and diagnostic services.
• Signs and negotiates health certificates.

## Senior Clinical VeterinarianApply: Bar Harbor, Maine: Posted 30+ Days Ago: JR005987The Senor Clinical Veterinarian directs the clinical care of sick and injured mice at JAX and assists other Comparative Medicine and Quality veterinarians in assuring that JAX policies and procedures are appropriate to assure: the health and welfare of JAX mice; continued compliance with relevant laws and regulations; and continued AAALACi accreditation. This individual participates in research projects and may present lectures or research results at conferences.This role is fully onsite in Bar Harbor, ME. We can assist with relocation cost and temporary housing for transition**Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions**:* Directs clinical care of JAX mice. May provide bio-methods or surgical training to JAX staff.* Participates as a veterinary member of the Animal Care and Use Committee including protocol review and policy writing.* Responds to questions and concerns raised by JAX employees and customers related to the care, use, health, and welfare of mice.
