Job Summary
Manage advanced clinical research studies for product development initiatives in the contact lens industry.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Plan and manage all aspects of clinical evaluation of product performance, including study design, protocol writing, study execution, statistical analysis, report writing, and participation in R&D teams.
- Coordinate clinical protocol execution with research centers.
- Apply research design knowledge, hypothesis testing, and technical communication skills.
- Stay informed on literature and knowledge related to contact lenses.
- Understand and apply regulatory requirements (GCP, IRB, FDA, ISO, EU MDR) under clinical management guidance.
- Conduct clinical assessments and serve as Sub-Investigator under the Principal Investigator.
- Leverage experience, current trends, and competitor knowledge to contribute to product development and scientific presentations.
Qualifications
- Research design, statistical analysis, medical writing, GCP, and Design Control knowledge.
- Understanding of biological and optical factors affecting contact lens safety and performance.
- Optometry/Ophthalmology experience preferred.
- Attention to detail, systematic approach, and meticulous work ethic.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including medical/scientific terminology.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new information.
- Proficiency with computer systems and strong Excel skills.
- Organized, capable of multitasking, and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Work environment includes office and ophthalmic exam settings.
- Physical effort is sedentary to light.
- Extensive contact with colleagues and external researchers.
Experience & Education
- Experience in the contact lens industry is required.
- Educational qualifications: OD or equivalent + MS or OD or equivalent + 2 years, or PhD + 2 years.
- Degree in Vision Science, Visual Optics, Physiological Optics, Optometry, or Ophthalmology preferred.
- Clinical licensure in CA is desirable but not mandatory.
