Job summary

Munich Re Specialty - North America is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist for the Financial and Professional Lines Core team. You will direct all aspects of file handling on in-house and third-party administered property claims, with growth in technical handling and professional development.

You will lead the adjusting and litigation process, partnering with counsel, experts, and vendors to drive optimal resolutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; Law degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience handling specialty claims.
• Detail-oriented, adaptable, and strategic in decision-making.
• Understanding of technical claims proficiency and execution of best claim practices.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and remain self-motivated in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and time management of claims desk.
• Strong business acumen and ability to collaborate with other departments and vendors.
• Customer-service and relationship oriented.
• Innovative, dynamic and growth mindset.
• Willingness to travel for mediations, settlement conferences, and client or account meetings (25%).
• Maintain valid adjuster licenses in states assigned or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assess claims for coverage and damages, pursue subrogation.
• Understand coverage issues, policy forms, contracts, and regulatory requirements for specialty lines.
• Manage claims proactively with a strategic vision for optimal outcomes.
• Evaluate reserves over the life of the claim to reflect exposure.
• Demonstrate technical claims proficiency and best practices.
• Coordinate outside counsel and vendors for optimal outcomes.
• Present high-exposure claims to leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal/external partners for meetings, product development and audits.
• Identify ways to improve claim efficiencies and outcomes (innovative mindset).
