The Role

We’re seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to support inspections, assessments, and design work for fixed equipment and industrial infrastructure. This role supports pulp, paper, chemical, and water/wastewater facilities through on‑site evaluations, repair planning, and clear technical reporting.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct structural surveys and evaluations for industrial buildings and infrastructure
  • Assess condition of concrete, FRP, and steel tanks/vessels, including chemical masonry construction
  • Develop designs for structural steel, concrete, and brick/tile systems
  • Investigate corrosion and material‑related failures in metallic and non‑metallic equipment
  • Analyze equipment condition data and apply engineering codes and best practices
  • Manage small capital projects for fixed equipment improvements
  • Provide QA/QC for new and rehabilitation construction
  • Prepare repair specifications and drawing packages
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, chemical, design, project management)
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation
  • Execute approximately 1,500 billable hours annually

Field environments frequently include confined spaces, ladders or scaffolding, elevated work areas ranging from 50’ to 125’, and industrial facilities with variable conditions.

What You Bring
  • B.S. in Structural or Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of applied engineering experience, obtained either after completing an accredited degree or through demonstrated equivalent professional practice
  • Experience with fixed equipment design, inspection, repairs, and failure modes
  • Ability to analyze condition data and develop engineering recommendations
  • Ability to meet project deadlines within budgeted hours
  • Ability to perform essential field tasks in industrial environments, with safety training and equipment provided
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to prepare clear technical reports and communicate findings to clients and internal teams
  • Physical ability to perform field tasks such as climbing ladders/scaffolding, lifting up to ~50 lbs on occasion, using power tools for sample collection, and working at heights or in confined spaces, with reasonable accommodations as needed

Preferred experience includes holding a PE license, working with FRP systems, and having exposure to the pulp and paper industry. Familiarity with SolidWorks, Abaqus, MathCAD, and AutoCAD is beneficial, as is experience with corrosion assessment and fixed‑equipment damage mechanisms.

What We Offer
  • 100% employer‑paid health and dental premiums
  • Paid holidays, PTO, and sick leave
  • 401(k) with up to 3% employer contribution
  • Flexible hybrid schedule
Other Requirements

Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and reside in North America. Pre‑employment drug screening and background checks are required, and final candidates may be asked to provide redacted technical writing samples. CPI is a Drug‑Free Workplace and an Equal Opportunity Employer.
