Job summary

GFT is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Drafter - Substation to join our expanding Power Group. This hybrid role is based in Charlotte, NC, with remote consideration for qualified candidates.

You will support electric utility and substation projects, developing concrete and steel detailing, site and civil drawings, and BOMs. You will review junior drafts and ensure adherence to client drafting standards while collaborating with engineers to deliver reliable energy infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of drafting experience in civil/structural projects.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and related drafting standards.
• Ability to meet project schedules and budgets.
• MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Provide drafting support to civil/structural engineers and senior drafters/designers.
• Develop structural concrete and steel detail and fabrication drawings.
• Develop site/civil drawings including grading and drainage plans.
• Develop foundation reinforcement and modification details.
• Develop bill of materials for civil and structural items.
• Review CADD work by junior drafting staff.
• Attention to detail and ability to learn and implement client drafting standards.

GFT is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Drafter - Substation to join our expanding Power Group. This is a hybrid position based in Charlotte, NC, Pittsburgh, PA, Marlton, NJ, Chicago, IL or St. Louis, MO, with remote consideration for qualified candidates.

What You’ll Be Challenged To Do

As a Civil/Structural Drafter - Substation, you will support electric utility and substation projects within our Power group.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Provide drafting support to civil and structural engineers and senior drafters/designers.
• Develop structural concrete and steel detail and fabrication drawings.
• Develop site/civil drawings including grading and drainage plans.
• Develop foundation reinforcement and modification details.
• Develop bill of materials for civil and structural items.
• Review CADD work by junior drafting staff.
• Attention to detail and ability to learn and implement client drafting standards.

What You Will Bring To Our Firm

• 12+ years of relevant drafting experience.
• Experience with general arrangements, structural steel detailing, concrete foundation reinforcement detailing, site plans, foundation plans, erosion and sediment control plans, bill of materials.
• Knowledge and ability to utilize AutoCAD.
• Ability to apply project schedules to complete tasks in a timely manner and within project budget.
• Ability to proficiently use Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)

What We Prefer You Bring

• Experience in the energy industry or a consulting services environment is recommended but not required.
• Autodesk Inventor experience
• 3D Modeling experience

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
