Job summary

CAIR-LA seeks a Managing Civil Rights Litigation Attorney in Anaheim, CA to lead complex civil rights cases and advance justice for the Muslim community. You will oversee strategy, develop impactful litigation, and collaborate with policy, advocacy, and communications teams.

The role requires at least 8 years in relevant practice, California Bar status, and a strong commitment to civil liberties, with significant leadership experience and a willingness to travel within Southern California.

Qualifications

  • Required: ABA-accredited law degree and active California Bar admission.
  • At least 8 years in state and/or federal court with civil rights or related practice.
  • Three+ years supervising legal professionals; ability to independently develop and litigate cases.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic litigation addressing systemic civil rights issues for CAIR-CA.
  • Identify emerging issues and cases aligned with CAIR-CA priorities.
  • Manage all stages of litigation from client interviews to trial preparation.
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery.
  • Mentor attorneys, fellows, paralegals, and support staff.
