Job summary

Nitsch Engineering in Richmond, VA is seeking a Senior Civil Project Engineer to lead internal design teams on challenging land development projects, coordinating tasks and preparing proposals to support growth.

You will liaise with clients during construction administration, participate in design team and owner meetings, and ensure design solutions meet regulatory requirements while driving project success.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
• Minimum 8 years of related experience in land development.
• Knowledge of state/local/federal permitting guidelines.
• Experience with construction administration is preferred.
• Experience preparing construction documents for land development.
• Extensive use of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D required; HydroCAD a plus.

Responsibilities

• Leads internal design team to prepare drawings, specs, reports, and calculations for complex land development projects.
• Coordinates design tasks, delegates assignments, and keeps Project Manager informed.
• Prepares proposals and fee estimates for review by the Project Manager.
• Monitors budget status during invoicing and milestones.
• Serves as primary client contact for construction administration coordination.
• Represents Nitsch in design team and owner meetings and coordinates with external teams.
• Troubleshoots construction administration issues with project leadership.
