Job summary

Langan Engineering & Environmental Services in New York City, White Plains, or Melville, NY, seeks a Senior Staff Civil Engineer to lead site/civil design for diverse land development projects. You will plan, design, and manage permitting processes for mixed-use developments, housing, and federal work.

The role requires creating engineering documents, assessing site conditions, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements. Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• EIT certification; PE certification preferred.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in site/civil design, including site planning, grading, stormwater management, drainage, and soil erosion.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and modification of engineering documents such as reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and design plans using software like AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Use maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on project planning and design.
• Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting is preferred.
• Collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments.
• Perform other job duties as requested.

Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Staff Civil Engineer to join its collaborative team in our New York City, White Plains, or Melville NY locations. This individual will serve a key function in providing the planning, design, and permitting of civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in site/civil engineering design for mixed-use developments, shopping centers, residential, higher education, federal, and other exciting land development projects in a continuous learning environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and modification of various engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.) and equipment;
• Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects;
• Familiarity with current local, state, and federal land use permitting is a plus;
• Collaborate with team members on project tasks and assignments; and
• Perform other job duties as requested.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.

Pay Range

$76,000—$110,000 USD
