Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Florida PE license preferred or the ability to obtain Florida licensure through comity.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience, with significant water/wastewater/municipal infrastructure experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary projects from planning and design through bidding and construction.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, design standards, permitting requirements, and industry practices for water/wastewater infrastructure.
• Experience with water distribution, wastewater collection, pipelines, pump stations, storage facilities, reservoirs, treatment facilities.
• Experience managing project scope, budgets, schedules, client expectations, and technical deliverables.
• Strong technical writing, presentation, communication, and client relationship skills.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and develop project team members.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
• Experience with Autodesk or Bentley design platforms; AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects.
• Serve as Project Manager or Technical Lead on projects encompassing distribution, transmission, and treatment facilities.
• Develop and oversee reports, design calculations, cost estimates, schedules, and construction documents.
• Provide guidance and oversight to engineers, designers, and CAD technicians.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality with project managers and leadership.
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and subconsultants.
• Lead civil design efforts including utility layouts, drainage, and constructability considerations.
• Perform hydraulic and hydrologic analyses and prepare design documentation.
• Support permitting, bidding, and construction-phase services; respond to RFIs and submittals.
• Participate in client meetings, proposals, and business development.
• Identify opportunities to grow water and wastewater practice.

This position supports our Southeast geography and is based in Gainesville, Florida. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead the planning, design, and delivery of water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects. You will serve as a technical leader and primary point of contact for clients, guide project teams, and collaborate with professionals across multiple disciplines.

• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects.
• Serve as Project Manager or Technical Lead on projects involving water distribution and transmission systems, wastewater collection systems, pipelines, pump stations, lift stations, storage facilities, reservoirs, treatment facilities, and related infrastructure.
• Develop and oversee engineering reports, technical memoranda, design calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and construction documents.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and oversight to engineers, designers, CAD technicians, and other project team members.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and quality in coordination with Project Managers and firm leadership.
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, subconsultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Review survey data, geotechnical information, basemaps, existing utility records, and other project information to support sound design decisions.
• Lead civil design efforts, including utility layouts, grading, drainage, erosion and sediment control, site development, and constructability considerations.
• Perform and review hydraulic, hydrologic, and other engineering analyses and calculations as appropriate for project needs.
• Prepare and review quantity takeoffs, opinions of probable construction cost, and technical specifications.
• Direct the preparation of design markups and coordinate with CAD technicians to ensure accurate and efficient production of project documents.
• Conduct quality-control and quality-assurance reviews of technical work and project deliverables.
• Support permitting, bidding, and construction-phase services, including responding to requests for information, reviewing submittals, and providing technical support during construction.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, interviews, proposal preparation, and business development activities.
• Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and contribute to the growth of the water and wastewater practice.
• Support transportation, environmental, and other business groups as project needs arise.
• Represent the firm professionally in industry organizations and community activities.
• Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, ethics, and client service.

Here’s what you’ll need

The base salary range for this position is $125,000.00 to $165,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
