LJB Inc. is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead land development projects in South Portland, Maine. This role focuses on managing design work from concept through construction, coordinating with clients and agencies, and mentoring junior staff to deliver high‑quality plans and construction documents.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of civil engineering experience, Maine PE eligibility (or license), and strong communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Maine PE required, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 8+ years of progressive civil engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design a wide range of Land Development engineering, public utilities, and private development projects.
• Lead engineering studies and design projects from concept development through construction documentation and construction-phase support.
• Manage task-specific scope, schedule, and budget.
• Support client relationship development and contribute to business development efforts.
• Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors and client managers.
• Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance.
• Interface and build relationships with clients and public agencies on an as-needed basis.
• Collaborate with a team of support professionals, including CAD designers, EITs, and GIS technicians.
• Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design and construction plans.
