A nationally recognized, employee-owned engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing team in either Portland or Seattle. This role offers the chance to work on some of the most unique civil engineering projects in the country, including dam removals, fish passage facilities, stream restoration, renewable energy developments, embankment dam rehabilitation, and recreation infrastructure projects.
Unlike traditional land development work, this position focuses on complex, multidisciplinary projects that combine engineering, environmental stewardship, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support civil engineering projects from conceptual design through construction.
- Develop and review construction drawings, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and engineering calculations.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, scientists, environmental specialists, and regulatory experts.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical excellence across projects.
- Participate in project planning, design development, client interaction, field investigations, and construction support activities.
- Help deliver innovative solutions for hydraulic infrastructure, stream restoration, fish passage, renewable energy, and dam-related projects.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience leading engineering tasks, project delivery efforts, or multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Background in one or more of the following:
- Civil site design
- Roadway and drainage engineering
- Stream restoration
- Fish passage design
- Hydraulic infrastructure
- Dam rehabilitation, removal, or decommissioning
- Water resources engineering
- Strong communication, technical review, and mentoring skills.
Preferred Experience
- 8+ years of civil engineering experience.
- Project management responsibilities, including scope, schedule, and budget oversight.
- Hydraulic and hydrologic modeling experience.
- Cost estimating and construction documentation experience.
- Familiarity with BIM and Autodesk Revit workflows.
