Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services group serving the Kentucky/Tennessee region. You will design and plan civil/site projects, supervise staff, and contribute to client management and program development within the Civil Section.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of civil/site design experience, a PE license, and strong leadership and project-management skills. This role emphasizes collaboration across offices and a commitment to HDR’s employee-owned

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years design experience managing civil/site projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience in project engineering and project management.
• Active participant in employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Design and plan production on a wide variety of commercial and industrial projects, including site planning and layouts, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering infrastructure activities.
• Prepare specifications and contract documents, and costs estimates.
• Advance permitting requirements.
• Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity as needed.
• Function both independently and within HDR project teams.
• Plan, organize and supervise work of a medium to large staff of professionals and technicians as needed; Help with the initial recruitment to build the staff.
• Serve as a Project Manager on larger projects, although project management is not the sole focus of this position.
• Be responsible for client management and program development within the Civil Section.
• Understand HDR’s work-sharing mentality regarding other offices in the region.
• Perform other duties as needed

HDR is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services group in our Kentucky/Tennessee area. In the role of Senior Civil Engineer, we’ll count on you to:

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Office applications, MicroStation, InRoads and other civil engineering software as appropriate;
• Strong operating knowledge of Civil 3D is highly preferred
• Production-orientated individual that is self-motivated, collaborative and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound civil site designs
• Preference given to local candidates with understanding/relationships within market (Kentucky/Tennessee)

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years design experience managing various civil/site design projects
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Project Engineering and Project Management experience
