Job summary

City of Coconut Creek seeks an experienced City Attorney with a JD and Florida license to provide legal counsel to the City Commission, City Manager and staff. The attorney will supervise legal staff, handle complex government matters and represent the City in various legal matters.

Responsibilities include drafting ordinances, contracts and opinions; conducting investigations and research; and guiding departments on policy and legal issues affecting the City.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with Florida license.
• Florida attorney in good standing is required.
• Experience in city, county or local government law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise City Commission, City Manager, staff and boards on legal matters.
• Attend City Commission and advisory board meetings as needed.
• Prepare legal opinions, ordinances, contracts, deeds, leases and other documents.
