Job summary

Affirm is building the next generation of customer identity and authentication. This hands-on backend role focuses on core CIAM services and security, supporting registration, login, authorization, and account lifecycle for B2C and B2B.

You will implement and extend standards like OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and SCIM, delivering high-quality code in Python and Kotlin while integrating with internal systems and partner apps. Remote-first with strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Strong backend engineering with Python or Kotlin and API design.
• Experience building distributed systems on AWS with MySQL, Spark or Kubernetes.
• Proven ability to ship major features with a clear technical plan.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate CIAM backend services for registration, authentication, and account lifecycle for B2C and B2B.
• Extend identity standards like OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and SCIM in code with scalable patterns.
• Develop Python and Kotlin backend APIs exposing identity capabilities to web, mobile, and partner apps.
• Automate CIAM infrastructure and deployments using IaC and CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor, debug, and optimize CIAM services for performance, resilience, and abuse detection.
