Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' TX Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System in Harlingen, TX seeks a Chaplain to provide comprehensive religious, spiritual, and pastoral care to Veterans, caregivers, and staff, integrating care with medical treatment.

The chaplain ensures ethical and compassionate support, offers worship leadership, crisis counseling, and develops measurable pastoral programs in coordination with the treatment team.

Qualifications

• Master of Divinity or equivalent from CHEA/ATS-accredited institution.
• Active Board Certification in chaplaincy and ecclesiastical endorsement.
• English language proficiency (spoken and written).
• Ability to meet VA qualification standards and grandfathering provisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral ministry across patients, caregivers, and staff.
• Lead, coach, and train chaplain staff; coordinate worship and services.
• Address moral, ethical, and spiritual concerns of Veterans and staff.
• Develop and implement chaplaincy programs aligned with VA goals.
• Lead telechaplaincy and in-person visits across facilities.
