Job description

Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician - Walgreens

As a Senior Certified Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you will work under direct supervision to assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties. You will use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions while ensuring compliance with state, federal, and company regulations.

Base Pay Range

$18.75/hr – $24.50/hr

Job Responsibilities
  • Engage customers and patients, greet them, offer assistance with products and services, resolve customer issues, and answer questions.
  • Model customer service best practices and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, review and comply with the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, fill prescriptions, verify medicine, check for interactions.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to pharmacist on duty and adhere to policies.
  • Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policy during prescription dispensing.
  • Register all sales on assigned cash register, handle cash, and guide customers to OTC aisle.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians.
  • Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals.
  • Assist pharmacist with clinical services such as collecting and labeling samples.
  • Maintain relationships with local medical community and external providers.
  • Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, and orderly.
  • Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers and comply with all policies.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.
  • Attend training, complete PPLs requested by Manager, and obtain continuing education credits.
Basic Qualifications
  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
  • One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to obtain an active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (with listed exceptions).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills (counting, measuring, weighing medications).
  • Basic PC skills (startup/shutdown computer, use mouse, print documents, access information online).
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
