Fireclay Tile in Aromas, CA is seeking a Ceramic Engineer to lead R&D and elevate our Original Ceramic line. You will define quality benchmarks, guide glaze development, and collaborate across Production, Marketing, and Sales to translate market needs into technical specs.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 5+ years in R&D or product development in ceramics or tile industries.
• In-depth glaze chemistry, body formulation, and firing techniques knowledge.
• Experience developing firing curves for roller hearth and periodic kilns.
• Ability to troubleshoot crazing, warping, and firing defects.

Responsibilities

• Lead product standard enhancements for extruded red clay body tile and finishes.
• Proactively source raw materials to improve purity and cost efficiency.
• Develop new clays and glazes to expand product offerings.
• Benchmark against market trends to drive innovation.
• Lead the Glaze and Material Science Laboratories and guide testing.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Marketing, and Sales.
