The City of Selma seeks a Senior Center Coordinator to plan, develop, and implement programs for seniors, including nutrition services, outreach, and recreation at the Selma Senior Center. Under general direction, you will oversee volunteers, coordinate activities, and help maintain the center.
Responsibilities include evaluating programs, coordinating with social services, pursuing grants, managing budgets, and representing the City at meetings related to senior services.

The City of Selma is a vibrant and steadily growing community with a population of nearly 25,000 and is situated in the heart of California’s Central Valley. The City provides a full-range of services to our citizens.
Under general direction, plans, develops, organizes and implements a wide variety of programs and activities for seniors, including nutrition services; assists with the operation, control and maintenance of the Senior Center; provides outreach and support services to senior participants; and performs related duties as required.
Receives general direction from Recreation Supervisor. Provides functional supervision of volunteers and Senior Center program participants.
This is a single-position classification that has the responsibility for coordinating Senior Center programs and services, including nutrition, health awareness, physical activities, social activities, recreation, hobby and educational programs, field trips, and related services. The position also assists with maintenance and control of the Senior Center.

Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in the development and implementation of senior citizen programs.
May be required to work any shift including weekends, evenings and holidays. May be subject to call outs after hours and weekends.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 25 pounds.; ability to travel to different sites and locations.
Employees work primarily in the office but are occasionally exposed to extreme noise, noxious odors, cold and hot temperatures and inclement weather conditions. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or members of the public.

This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Positions in this classification frequently lift and carry reports and records that typically weigh less than 20 pounds.
