Job summary

TCS in the Columbia area seeks a Senior CEI Inspector to oversee highway and bridge construction, read plans, compute field quantities, and document findings for project teams. You will prepare daily reports and maintain detailed site records to support project delivery.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of construction inspection experience, preferred SCDOT certifications, and strong skills in MS Office, AASHTOWare, and ProjectWise. Occasional evenings or weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 10+ years in construction inspection; compensation based on experience.
• Preferred certifications: SCDOT Asphalt Roadway, Earthwork, Concrete, Foundations, Pavement Preservation; ACI Field-Grade 1, Nuclear Gauge Safety, Hazmat, CEPSCI, Work Zone Traffic Control, OSHA 10.
• MS Office, AASHTOWare Project, and ProjectWise knowledge required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and report writing ability.

Responsibilities

• Inspect all phases of road and bridge construction per procedures.
• Inspect projects requiring multi-area expertise in highway construction.
• Perform materials sampling and testing as directed.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications; compute field quantities.
• Document findings clearly and prepare daily reports.
• Maintain detailed records of daily operations.
• Review inspections/data for accuracy before submission to Project Manager.
• Communicate information to the Project Manager; interact with client as needed.
• Maintain equipment operation and calibration; ensure safety compliance.
• Represent TCS and its clients professionally; pass background checks and DMV checks.

Job description

TCS is looking to hire a Senior CEI Inspector in the Columbia area. In the role, your primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Perform inspection of all phases of road and/or bridge construction in accordance with training and the specified procedures.
• Perform inspection on projects requiring expertise and knowledge in multiple areas of highway construction inspection.
• Perform materials sampling and testing as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures.
• Read and interpret plans and construction specifications.
• Compute and compile installed field quantities.
• Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
• Prepare daily work reports and other project documentation.
• Maintain detailed records of the contractor’s daily operations.
• Perform basic review of inspections and data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
• Communicate information to the Project Manager.
• Have experience in multiple areas of inspection and field testing.
• May interact with client and other site personnel on behalf of the Project Manager when directed.
• Maintain equipment operation and calibration.
• Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
• Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or applicable field preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in construction inspection. Compensation commensurate with experience.
• Preferred certifications: SCDOT Asphalt Roadway, Earthwork, Concrete, Foundations, and Pavement Preservation. ACI Field-Grade 1, Nuclear Gauge Safety and Hazmat, CEPSCI, Work Zone Traffic Control, and OSHA 10-hour.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, AASHTOWare Project, and ProjectWise.
• Ability to perform work on active jobsite in safe, proficient manner required.
• Strong verbal communication skills and excellent written communication skills as well as the ability to create and prepare reports.
• Mathematical skills for verifying measurements and computer skills (word,excel,etc,) for reviewing project plan sets, specifications, photo processing and filing and preparation of reports.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours (evenings, nights and weekends).
• Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods.
• Requires the ability to lift / carry a case that weighs 95 pounds and push up to 250 pounds in a wheelbarrow.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Ability to represent TCS and its clients in a professional manner at all times.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and clear driving record. A DMV check will be conducted.

Pay

From $35.00 per hour
