Job summary

CDM Smith’s CEI team seeks an experienced inspector to monitor construction activities at project site(s). You will inspect road, bridge, drainage, erosion and maintenance aspects while reading plans and ensuring conformance to contract provisions.

The role requires a high school diploma, relevant certifications, a valid driver’s license and 20%–40% travel. This is an on-site field position supporting transportation projects across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI if required by client.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required (20%–40%).

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to ensure conformance with plans and specifications.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations.
• Work under supervision as needed based on assignment.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to supervisor.
