Qualifications

  • Two (2) years as a Cashier in the County of San Diego; OR, three (3) years of cashiering experience with responsibility for over-the-counter receipts, posting and verifying accounts.
  • At least two (2) years of experience supervising personnel who receive and disburse large sums of cash.

This is a promotional opportunity open only to current County of San Diego employees. Temporary employees, with the exception of Certified Temporary employees, are not eligible for promotional recruitments.

Future Salary Increases

June 2027 – 4.47% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.47% Market Adjustment)

Senior Cashier is a lead position that assists in all phases of: processing payments on tax bills, debtor accounts, licenses, permits, or receiving, verifying, and recording deposits from banks, branch work sites, and other county offices; accept fees and maintain records; ensure the security of all cash; plan cashier operations and assignments; review a variety of reports, forms, and records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable statutes; post fiscal information to records; compile statistical reports; act as liaison to the public or interdepartmental representatives in situations where judgment and interpretation of departmental policies and regulations are required; and train and assign work to subordinates.

Minimum Requirements
  • 1. Two (2) years as a Cashier in the County of San Diego; OR,
  • 2. Three (3) years of cashiering experience with responsibility for over-the-counter receipts, posting, adjusting and verifying accounts or warrants received and/or disbursed. At least two (2) years of experience must have been supervising personnel who receive and disburse large sums of cash.

Conditions of Employment

Evaluation

The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based upon scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental questionnaire.
