Job summary

The Judicial Conduct Investigations Office (JCIO) within the Judicial Office is seeking a senior leader to guide the JCIO's casework, policy and governance. You will work closely with the Lord Chancellor and Lady Chief Justice to shape disciplinary strategy and ensure high-quality advisory support to the judiciary.

This role requires strong autonomy, sound judgement and the ability to manage sensitive legal and policy issues across a broad network of government and judiciary stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a legal or disciplinary investigations team.
• Strong policy development and project management skills.
• Excellent communication with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the Grade 6 Head of JCIO in leadership of the JCIO team and delivery of its functions.
• Work closely with the Grade 7 Head of Casework to provide senior casework leadership and support to sub-teams.
• Provide high-quality advice to the senior judiciary and the Lord Chancellor on disciplinary matters.
• Lead on policy, project and reform work as directed by the Lady Chief Justice and the Lord Chancellor.
• Contribute to management of responses to pre-action correspondence and litigation with Government Legal Department lawyers.
• Build and maintain effective relationships across the Judicial Office, Ministry of Justice, legal advisers, the judiciary and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with heads to ensure senior cover in the JCIO throughout the week.
• Represent the JCIO at meetings and stakeholder events to explain remit and approach clearly.
• Provide clear, balanced advice on sensitive casework, operational and reputational issues.
• Champion a positive, inclusive working culture aligned with Judicial Office values.
• Exercise autonomy to plan and deliver complex work with minimal supervision and help shape the organisation's response to growing demand.
