Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum 4–5 years experience in heavy highway/bridge work.
• Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
• Good communication to provide information to supervisors, peers, and subordinates by phone, written form, e-mail, or in person.
• Available to work ten hours per day, five days (and occasionally six days) per week outdoors in Florida heat and rain.

Responsibilities

• Measure materials or distances using square, tape, or rule to lay out work.
• Cut or saw boards, timbers, or plywood to size using handsaw, power saw, or woodworking machine.
• Mark cutting lines on materials with pencil and scriber.
• Study blueprints and diagrams to determine dimensions of structure or form.
• Assemble and fasten material to construct wood or metal framework using bolts, nails, or screws.
• Communicates with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
