Job summary

Clearwater Living at The Arboretum in Austin, TX seeks a full-time Medication Technician to document, deliver and administer medicines to residents with exceptional service.

You will follow care plans, coordinate with pharmacy and physicians, assist with daily living activities, and maintain confidential records while upholding safety and regulatory standards. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year work experience as a Caregiver or Medication Technician.
• CNA certification preferred.
• Active First Aid/CPR/BLS Certification required.
• Background clearances as required by government regulations.
• Must meet health requirements, including TB.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily medications, treatments and resident care as assigned and within scope of practice, policy and procedures, and government regulations.
• Observe, verify and document that medication is ingested or applied as directed.
• Notify supervisor if prescribed medication is not administered according to directions and document the reason(s).
• Maintain clear, accurate, complete and confidential records on resident medication and care.
• Coordinate medication services with resident, pharmacy and physician(s) and verify dosages with physician prior to dispensing.
• Track all orders for medication changes and/or refills – prepare medications for distribution up to 24 hours in advance.
• Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the beginning and end of shift, reporting any discrepancies to supervisor(s).
• Assist caregivers in the performance of their job duties and assume caregiver activities when needed.
• Respond to resident needs promptly and kindly while maintaining each resident’s self-respect and dignity.
• Read and follow care plans to ensure proper care is being given to residents.
• Assist residents in daily living activities including bathing, dressing, hygiene, meals, activities, and toileting.
• Provide assistance at mealtime with selecting meals, serving, eating, and clearing trays.
• Transport residents as necessary following safe transfer techniques and assist with mobility.
