Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking an Elder Assistant to provide essential support to residents needing around-the-clock care. Responsibilities include daily living assistance, medication management, and promoting independence.

The role includes mentoring other Elder Assistants and leading shift operations. The position requires CNA and/or CMT credentials in good standing, with at least two years of direct elder care experience, and completion of required certifications within six

Qualifications

• CNA and/or equivalent senior care certification in good standing.
• CMT in Maryland in good standing.
• Minimum 2 years direct elder care experience; ability to train others.
• First Aid and food handling certifications within 6 months.
• Lead Elder Assistant responsibilities require supervision skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily life activities (dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, housekeeping, laundry).
• Document on MAR for all medications per policy.
• Count controlled substances at shift start/end with CMTs.
• Seek supervisor guidance before administering medications if unsure.
• Monitor environmental safety hazards and dispose of waste per policy and OSHA.
• Follow standard precautions to prevent infection spread.
• Document all incidents and communicate to supervisors; assist with follow-up.
• Support dining and housekeeping tasks, assist residents during meals, maintain clean environment.
