Job summary

Miami VA Healthcare System seeks an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon to contribute to quality care standards and the growth of a VA academic hospital program.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, a team player, and adaptable to a growing medical center. Requirements include MD/DO, US license, residency in cardiothoracic surgery, and English proficiency. VA offers EDRP and a comprehensive rewards package.

Qualifications

  • United States citizenship required.
  • MD/DO degree; VA-approved education.
  • Current full and unrestricted medical license in the United States.
  • Residency training in Cardiothoracic Surgery leading to board eligibility.
  • Board certification preferred: Thoracic Surgery or Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery.
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

  • Admit, evaluate, diagnose and provide pre-, intra-, and postoperative surgical care to adult patients with heart/thoracic conditions.
  • Perform a wide range of thoracic procedures including complex surgeries and transplants as needed.
  • Supervise medical students, residents and/or fellows.
  • Work schedule and shifts as determined by the Medical Staff and facility needs.
