Job summary

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) seeks a Police / Public Safety Supervisor, Senior/Lieutenant to lead a shift within the NCCU Police Department. This internal posting is open only to current NCCU employees with sworn law enforcement credentials and supervisory experience.

The role involves enforcing laws, directing patrols, investigations, training, and ensuring campus safety and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree or higher; six years sworn law enforcement experience.
• At least three years in a supervisory role equivalent to Police Sergeant or greater.
• Current certification from NC CJETSC as commissioned officer or eligible within timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Maintain law enforcement operations within the assigned jurisdiction.
• Supervise officers and coordinate overtime for staffing needs.
• Conduct pre-shift briefings and review reports/investigations.
• Develop and implement operational plans and priorities.
• Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedures.
• Provide training and performance feedback to personnel.
• Coordinate with campus partners and external agencies.
