Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Calibration Technician to support manufacturing and quality operations by performing advanced inspections, evaluating product conformity, and supporting calibration and measurement control activities for inspection and test equipment.

You will work cross-functionally with quality, manufacturing, engineering, operations, and supply chain to ensure products meet established requirements and quality records are maintained.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify product conformity with engineering requirements.
• Evaluate dimensions, workmanship, materials, documentation, and inspection results to identify nonconformances.
• Resolve complex inspection discrepancies by evaluating findings and supporting corrective actions.
• Verify inspection methods, measurement equipment, and acceptance criteria are appropriate for the product.
• Perform or support calibration, verification, and functional checks of inspection and measurement equipment.
• Maintain equipment identification, calibration status, traceability, and supporting records.
• Identify out-of-tolerance, damaged, or unsuitable measurement equipment and assess potential impacts.
• Maintain inspection records, nonconformance reports, and quality documentation.
• Review inspection trends and quality findings to identify recurring issues and improvements.
• Prepare inspection summaries and provide evidence for audits and quality reviews.
• Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, engineering, operations, and supply chain to resolve issues.
• Communicate findings and corrective actions to stakeholders.
• Suggest improvements to inspection methods and workflows.

In this position, you will support manufacturing and quality operations by performing advanced inspections, evaluating product conformity, and supporting calibration and measurement control activities for inspection and test equipment. This role applies inspection knowledge to resolve complex quality issues, verify measurement equipment suitability and calibration status, and ensure products consistently meet engineering, customer, regulatory, and organizational quality requirements. Through accurate inspection and measurement control, the Senior Quality Inspector helps maintain product conformity, measurement reliability, and consistent quality throughout production.

Working cross-functionally with quality, manufacturing, engineering, operations, and supply chain, this role supports incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities as well as calibration controls that ensure inspection equipment, product acceptance, and quality records meet established requirements.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections to verify product conformity with engineering requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Evaluate dimensions, workmanship, materials, documentation, and inspection results to identify nonconformances and support disposition decisions.
• Resolve complex inspection discrepancies by evaluating findings, recommending corrective actions, and supporting containment activities.
• Verify inspection methods, measurement equipment, and acceptance criteria are appropriate for the product and inspection requirements.
• Perform or support calibration, verification, and functional checks of inspection and measurement equipment in accordance with established requirements.
• Maintain equipment identification, calibration status, traceability, and supporting records to ensure measurement equipment remains suitable for use.
• Identify out-of-tolerance, damaged, expired, or unsuitable measurement equipment and support evaluation of potential impacts to inspected product.
• Maintain inspection records, nonconformance reports, quality documentation, calibration records, and supporting data in accordance with quality management system requirements.
• Review inspection trends, defect data, and quality findings to identify recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare inspection summaries and provide objective evidence supporting audits, corrective actions, product acceptance, and quality reviews.
• Partner with quality, manufacturing, engineering, operations, and supply chain to resolve inspection issues, product discrepancies, and quality concerns.
• Communicate inspection findings, nonconformances, measurement concerns, and corrective action recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
• Identify improvements to inspection methods, quality controls, measurement practices, and workflows that strengthen product quality and manufacturing consistency.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree, formal occupational training, or industry certification in Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field with 5-7 years of experience in quality control, inspection, manufacturing, production, or a related field.
• Advanced knowledge of quality control, inspection methodologies, product acceptance, and manufacturing quality principles.
• Expertise in interpreting engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), specifications, inspection procedures, and acceptance criteria.
• Proficiency in advanced inspection techniques, precision measurement, nonconformance reporting, corrective action processes, and controlled documentation practices.
• Strong knowledge of precision measurement equipment, calibration requirements, equipment traceability, and measurement control practices.
• Comprehensive understanding of quality management systems, product traceability, manufacturing quality requirements, first article inspection, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills in evaluating inspection results, defect trends, nonconformances, and quality risks to recommend practical improvements.
• Demonstrates sound judgment when evaluating product conformity, inspection results, measurement validity, manufacturing priorities, and compliance with quality requirements.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Experience in the aerospace or electronics industry.
• IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 certification.
