Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior CAD/BIM Lead in Building Engineering to drive drafting, redline corrections and layout while guiding junior CADD staff. You will help design critical infrastructure for data centers and commercial spaces, ensuring precision and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Associate or technical school degree, or combination of education and relevant experience.
• A minimum of 5 years working as a CAD Technician.
• Proficiency using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and InRoads.
• Experience using Microsoft Office in production workflows.
• Ability to be a lead technician and work closely with less experienced CADD Staff.
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
• Intermediate or Advanced understanding of engineering or architectural concepts, workflows, and deliverables.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-routine and complex drafting assignments requiring application of standardized drawing techniques.
• Perform Redline corrections and develop design drawings from initial sketches.
• Take responsibility for drawing layout.
• Work independently with occasional advice from your supervisor.
• Direct efforts of less-experienced CADD Technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference given to candidates currently residing in the Mid-Atlantic (VA/MD/DC) Area

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Fulton, MD: $60,753 - $86,790. Arlington, VA: $66,276 - $94,680. Newport News, VA: $55,230 - $78,900. Virginia Beach, VA: $55,230 - $78,900.
