Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States (Missouri) seeks a senior Procurement professional to lead global supplier relationships within the commercial vehicle supply chain. You will drive cross-functional collaboration with engineering and manufacturing, and negotiate long-term agreements with international suppliers, including German and Mexican partners.

The role requires 10 years of procurement experience, fluency in German and Spanish, and the ability to travel up to 5% domestically and abroad.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • 10 years of experience in Procurement.
  • Experience working for a global company across cultures and regions.
  • 10 years of negotiation experience with a global supply base.
  • 3 years of purchasing experience within the Mexico powertrain supply base.
  • 3 years of purchasing experience in casting or forging commodities within the commercial vehicle industry.
  • 3 years of experience in purchasing program management.
  • Experience with RFQ Process (Request for Quotation) to nominate powertrain parts.
  • Full professional proficiency in German and Spanish (spoken and written).
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 5% per year.
  • Authorized to work permanently in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with cross-functional teams to understand technology developments, design changes and future business decisions within the global supply chain
  • Collaborate regularly with German-based headquarters (DTAG) and Mexico-based powertrain suppliers
  • Negotiate or renew supplier agreements for critical materials, parts, components or services
  • Negotiate long-term supplier commitments for pricing, warranty, engineering and aftermarket support
  • Manage cross-functional product teams to develop and evaluate long-term proposals
  • Interface with suppliers and Daimler Truck Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure timely and accurate communication of specifications
  • Enlist supplier participation in design change considerations
  • Develop long-term strategies for purchasing aftermarket commodities and systems
  • Resolve supplier quality problems with international suppliers and business partners
  • Support Parts Distribution Centers regarding supplier-related purchasing issues
  • Negotiate supplier warranty coverage and aftermarket requirements
  • Evaluate alternative materials, methods, technologies and suppliers
  • Maintain current supplier pricing files, blanket purchase orders and cost-saving reporting tools
  • Achieve the best total supplier-driven costs throughout the product lifecycle
  • Travel domestically and internationally, as needed, up to 5% per year

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Materials Science, Logistics, or a related technical field
  • 10 years (120 months) of experience in Procurement
  • 10 years of experience working for a global company with demonstrated ability to connect and work across cultures and regions
  • 10 years of negotiation experience with global supply base
  • 10 years of experience in purchasing processes, documentation, compliance and tracking
  • 3 years of purchasing experience within the Mexico powertrain supply base
  • 3 years of purchasing experience in casting or forging commodities within the commercial vehicle industry
  • 3 years of experience in purchasing program management
  • Experience with RFQ Process (Request for Quotation) to nominate powertrain parts
  • Full professional proficiency in German and Spanish (spoken and written)
  • Ability to undertake domestic and international travel, as needed, up to 5% per year
  • Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
  • Final candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check
  • Final candidate may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen
