Responsibilities

• Procure all commodities listed in SAP for Standard PO procurement and procedure card transactions.
• Prepare and review purchase orders and requisitions for goods and services; solicit bid proposals.
• Identify, research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, and reliability.
• Make necessary changes to orders after receipt of acknowledgements to ensure timely payment of invoices.
• Review expeditors for past due orders and reconcile invoice discrepancies.
• Support ISO quality system and contribute to continuous improvements in quality, productivity, and service.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Sales to define product quality and align with customer expectations and processes.
• Develop suppliers and procure raw materials and manufacturing supplies.
• Work with Product Lines to support new product development.
• Disposition and sale of company assets and equipment.
• Cross-train across buying areas to gain full knowledge of products/services and vendor records.

Job description

Senior Buyer position is responsible for development of suppliers, as well as the purchase of raw and semi-finished materials, supplies and services necessary for the operation of a manufacturing establishment. This position works closely with Accounting, receiving. Management may add additional duties.

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Business or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Sales or Inventory/Supply Chain Management or a relative field.
• Intermediate level proficiency of 80% in Excel as tested by AMCAT assessment.

ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Prefer experience in a manufacturing environment
• Prefer experience with SAP
• Skills in negotiation and interpersonal relationships

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Will procure all commodities listed in SAP for both Standard PO procurement and Procedure Card transactions.
• Will prepare and review purchase orders, requisitions for goods and services, and solicit bid proposals for goods and services.
• Will identify, research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities taking into consideration the supplier’s reputation and history to source new, high quality supplies.
• Will make necessary changes to orders after receipt of acknowledgement so that invoices are promptly paid.
• Will review expeditors for past due orders.
• Will review invoice discrepancies for returned invoices from accounting.
• Will participate in and support our ISO quality system through continuous improvements in quality, productivity, and service.
• Will work with Manufacturing and Sales to define product quality through knowledge of the customer’s expectations, end use of product, and through knowledge of our manufacturing processes and capabilities.
• Will be responsible for the development of suppliers and purchasing of raw materials and supplies needed in manufacturing.
• Will work with Product Lines to support new product development efforts.
• Will be responsible for the disposition and sale of company assets and equipment.
• Will cross train in all buying areas to have thorough working knowledge of the products/services associated with each buyer and vendors of record that each buyer represents.
• Will meet regular and predictable attendance.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• May work with Supply Room on any delivery problems or delivered materials.
• May locate vendors of material, equipment or supplies, and interview them in order to determine product availability and terms of sales.
• May analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability.
