$85,000 – $95,000 per year (based on experience and skill set)
About Us
JP Ecommerce has been named one of the top-ten fastest-growing businesses in Minnesota by Inc. 5000 for the past four years in a row. We provide customers with high-quality bedding through our brand Bare Home. As a $100M+ e-commerce textile company, we source premium products from China, India, Pakistan, and Turkey while also manufacturing cotton products in the USA.
We’ve grown from a small startup to a team of more than 90 employees, and we’re continuing to expand as we scale our operations to support 30% year-over-year growth. Our collaborative, entrepreneurial culture means your work directly impacts how we buy, plan, and deliver product across our brands.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Buyer to lead our purchasing team. This is a hands-on leadership role for a seasoned purchasing professional — someone who has spent 5–10 years in the buying cycle, ideally in manufacturing or retail, and is ready to own both the buys and the team that makes them happen. You’ll lead a team of three, own vendor contracting and negotiation with overseas suppliers, and set the purchasing strategy that keeps the right product flowing at the right cost and the right time.
This role is equal parts negotiator, analyst, and leader. You’ll manage supplier relationships across China, India, Pakistan, and Turkey; negotiate pricing, contract terms, MOQs, and lead times; and coach and develop your team while building the processes that let us scale. If you know how to hold an overseas factory to its commitments, turn messy purchasing data into confident decisions, and bring a team along with you, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, coach, and develop a purchasing team of three direct reports, setting clear expectations and priorities
- Review and approve buys, assign categories and workload, and serve as the escalation point for vendor and order issues
- Conduct regular one-on-ones, provide constructive feedback, and build career paths and bench strength within the team
- Model and enforce disciplined purchasing practices, documentation standards, and system accuracy
- Own supplier relationships with domestic and overseas manufacturers, including sources in China, India, Pakistan, and Turkey
- Lead negotiations on pricing, payment terms, contract terms, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and lead times
- Structure and manage vendor agreements, holding suppliers accountable to quality, delivery, and cost commitments
- Track and assess supplier performance; identify, vet, and onboard new or alternate sourcing options
- Own the end-to-end purchasing cycle across product categories — buy planning, purchase order management, and reorder strategy
- Balance inventory levels, margin, lead times, and service level to prevent both stockouts and overstock
- Plan buys around international production cycles, transit times, and seasonal demand
- Analyze landed cost — product cost, freight, duties, and handling — to optimize total cost of ownership
Data, Systems & Analysis
- Build and maintain advanced analyses in Excel — including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables — to drive buying decisions
- Work daily in ERP and order-management systems to manage purchase orders, item and vendor records, and reporting
- Prepare reporting on order status, lead times, vendor performance, and inventory positions for leadership
- Spot patterns and risks in the data early and act on them before they affect inventory or cost
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with planning, warehouse, finance, quality, and marketing on incoming orders, launches, and receiving priorities
- Coordinate purchasing decisions with demand forecasts, replenishment needs, and growth targets
- Lead purchasing projects, seasonal volume planning, and process improvements as we scale
What You Need
Must-Haves
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Economics, Industrial Engineering, International Business, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in buying, purchasing, or procurement — manufacturing or retail backgrounds strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience purchasing from overseas vendors, ideally in China, India, or Pakistan, including managing import lead times
- Demonstrated success negotiating pricing, contract terms, MOQs, and lead times with suppliers
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience — this role manages a team of three
- Extensive Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables, for organizing and analyzing purchasing data
- Working experience in an ERP or order-management system through the full purchasing cycle
- Solid, well-rounded understanding of supply chain — demand, inventory, lead times, landed cost, and logistics
- Clear, professional communication with vendors, your team, and leadership; comfort working across cultures and time zones
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
Highly Valued
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP) strongly desired; ISM CPSM also valued
- Experience with vendor contract structuring, supplier scorecards, or formal supplier development programs
- Experience with SellerCloud, NetSuite, Slimstock, or similar ERP/planning systems
- Familiarity with e-commerce or marketplace operations (Amazon, Walmart, Target, Shopify)
- Prior experience in home goods, textiles, or consumer products
Pay: $85,000 – $95,000 per year (based on experience and skill set). This is an exempt, salaried position.
