Coverys seeks a Senior Business Systems Analyst in the United States to lead analysis on complex insurance systems and automated solutions. The role partners with business stakeholders, developers, testers and data teams to create software specifications, map processes and ensure regulatory alignment.

The ideal candidate has strong requirements gathering, stakeholder management and documentation skills, with experience in HIPAA, SDLC and Agile delivery.

Position Summary

The Senior Business Systems Analyst plans and directs analysis of complex business problems to be solved with automated systems. This entails working closely with business partners, developers, testers, scrum leads, product owners, data teams and project managers to develop software specifications, perform impact analysis, monitor the progress of software development and validate subsequent software meets requirements. Mentors and collaborates with technical and non-technical team members, leading the requirements gathering and analysis process independently. The Senior Business Analyst should be able to lead analysis of 1-2 projects and multiple products independently. Support evolving business needs, as applicable.

  • Elicit, analyze and document business and system requirements with strong skills in requirements decomposition (epics → features → user stories → acceptance criteria).
  • Responsible for communicating changes that have a downstream impact to systems/modules managed by other teams to ensure awareness and alignment around any changes and the criticality/priority of the changes.
  • Independently facilitate stakeholder alignment across business and IT.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in workshops, discovery sessions, and stakeholder interviews.
  • Consult with business to identify and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, data scope, usage, formatting, and security requirements.
  • Document and analyze nonfunctional requirements for the systems, ensuring they comply with HIPAA, state regulations, and data privacy standards.
  • Must have ability to do process mapping, data analysis, wireframing and prototyping to assist in design phase of software development.
  • Experience with Agile delivery models, backlog management and prioritization
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications. Write and maintain functional specifications for new or modified business systems by consulting with the developers, data engineers and IT management. Has ultimate responsibility for the specifications document.
  • Be able to solicit acceptance criteria in partnership with Product owners
  • Drive and collaborate with testing teams to validate business and functional process and outcomes
  • Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure requirements are met.
  • Accountable to ensure traceability from requirements through delivery.
  • Monitor and document post-implementation problems and revision requests.
  • Assist with user training and related documentation as needed to ensure smooth adoption of changes/enhancements.
  • Support evolving business needs, as applicable.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university
  • Five plus years related experience and/or training
  • Experience within insurance industry, required.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting workflows, risk assessment and policy lifecycle, preferred.
  • Experience working with externally facing applications to ensure proper coordination with Legal, Security and Corporate Communications before changes are rolled out, preferred.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of SharePoint and Microsoft Suite.
  • Broad knowledge with SDLC methodologies.
  • Experience working with automated testing tools, quality assurance best practices and SQL queries.
  • Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, process, deadlines and quality results.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of clients, both internal and external.
  • Self-motivated to develop unique approaches to special projects.
  • Commitment to continuous education with ability and willingness to transfer knowledge.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required of this position. (10% or less.)
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization throughout employment. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship, including visa transfers, now or in the future.

Base salary range is $110,380 - $130,000. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including location, skill set, experience, qualifications and education.
