SBM Management Services in Sacramento, CA seeks a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to design, build, and maintain enterprise BI solutions across a complex data ecosystem. You will integrate Workday, UKG, JDE, data warehouses, cloud platforms, and APIs to deliver dashboards and reports that support data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities include creating dashboards for executives and operations, defining KPIs, ensuring data quality, and mentoring junior BI engineers and analysts.
The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-grade business intelligence solutions across a complex and diverse data ecosystem. This role focuses on analyzing, integrating, modeling, and visualizing data from multiple internal and external sources—including Workday, UKG, JD Edwards (JDE), enterprise data warehouses, cloud-based data platforms, and third-party API connectors to deliver clear, accurate, and user-friendly dashboards and reports that support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Design, develop, and maintain enterprise BI dashboards and reports using data from HRIS, ERP, financial, operational, and analytical systems.
Translate business requirements into scalable, high-quality reporting solutions and intuitive visualizations.
Deliver clear, concise, and user-friendly dashboards for executive, operational, and analytical audiences.
Establish and maintain standardized KPIs, metrics, and reporting definitions across reporting platforms.
Extract, transform, and model data from on-premises and cloud-based data warehouses as well as third-party APIs and connectors.
Partner with data engineering and integration teams to ensure reliable, accurate, and trusted datasets.
Design semantic layers and reporting models optimized for performance, usability, and scalability.
Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems.
Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries across large and diverse datasets.
Perform query tuning and performance optimization to support scalable analytics solutions.
Build and support solutions using Microsoft BI technologies including Power BI, SQL Server, SSRS, and SSAS, as well as other reporting tools as required.
Support governed self-service BI while maintaining role-based security and data quality standards.
Create and maintain clear documentation for dashboards, reports, data models, and metric definitions.
Communicate insights through written reports, visualizations, and presentations tailored to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior BI engineers and analysts.
Dashboard adoption and satisfaction by business stakeholders.
On-time delivery of high-quality dashboards and reports.
Reliable, accurate, and trusted datasets across Workday, UKG, JDE, data warehouses, and API sources.
Optimized query and dashboard performance (fast refresh and responsive visuals).

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of professional experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data engineering roles, with demonstrated progression in responsibility and scope.
Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale BI solutions across multiple systems and data sources (e.g., Workday, UKG, JDE, data warehouses, cloud platforms, and APIs).
Advanced SQL expertise including complex joins, window functions, and performance tuning.
