Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of the ICC Codes as adopted by the City of Belvidere.
  • At least 5 years of experience with plan reviews and inspections.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong customer service abilities.
  • Must obtain ICC Residential and Commercial Inspector certifications within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform building inspections and plan reviews for new construction and remodels.
  • Administer permitting, code enforcement, and plan reviews in coordination with the Director of Buildings.
  • Serve as Building Official for the City of Belvidere, collaborating with developers, contractors, architects, business owners and residents.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and safe development throughout the community.
