Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Senior Building Engineer for a large campus in Redmond, WA. You’ll manage repairs, oversee energy programs, and mentor teams while ensuring all operations meet applicable codes and CBRE standards.

You will lead preventive maintenance programs, inspect systems like HVAC, fire, and plumbing, and coordinate with clients and contractors to deliver reliable facility performance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 5–8 years in related role.
  • Universal CFC certification required; additional HVAC/Electrical/Mechanical certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work orders and estimate materials and time.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems in compliance with codes and safety rules.
  • Develop and oversee an energy management program for efficient operations.
  • Oversee outside contractors and ensure work meets client standards.
  • Advise on preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Review inspections of building systems for safety and environmental compliance.

About The Role

Join CBRE as a Senior Building Engineer at a large campus in Redmond, WA where your expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems keeps our facilities running efficiently. You’ll perform repairs, observe building operations, and apply specialized knowledge to the site—all with the autonomy to make a real impact!

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function.

What You’ll Do
  • Assign work orders and estimate the time and materials needed to complete repairs. Maintain an inventory of adequate supplies and tools.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems. Align with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Develop an energy management program. Ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner.
  • Lead all aspects of and inspect the work performed by outside contractors. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisors.
  • Advise the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Perform repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
  • Review and sign off on inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure the operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client.
  • Apply knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.
  • Bring deep expertise in your field and broad knowledge across teams to mentor others, lead by example, and champion CBRE’s RISE values—while influencing senior partners and guiding teams toward innovative solutions. .
  • Give to new products, processes, standards, and/or operational plans in support of achieving functional goals.
What You’ll Need
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma or equivalent experience with 5-8 years of job-related experience.
  • Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred. Universal CFC certification required. Additional certification in one or more of the following: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and CMMS experience

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Senior Building Engineer position is $44 per hour and the maximum salary for the Senior Building Engineer position is $50 per hour. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
