Job summary

Jobtailor in Colorado is seeking an experienced professional to provide expert analysis and consulting on structural and building-related issues. The role involves insurance claims analysis, rough order of magnitude estimating, and cost evaluation for repair projects.

You will conduct site evaluations, analyze repair scopes, prepare comprehensive reports, and may provide testimony. Travel to site locations and collaboration with engineers, clients, and legal teams are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in building consulting, forensic engineering, or construction inspection.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, codes, and industry standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce detailed technical reports.
  • Experience with construction estimating software such as Xactimate is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to site locations.
  • Strong background in building envelope systems including foundations, cladding, and roofing; knowledge of building codes and ADA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert analysis and consulting on structural and building-related issues.
  • Perform insurance claims analysis, rough order of magnitude estimating, comparative estimates, cost analysis, contractor bid evaluation, and cost estimating.
  • Conduct site evaluations to determine damage extent, repair scopes, and repair costs.
  • Analyze repair scopes and contractor bid documents.
  • Prepare oral and written reports documenting recommended repair scopes and remediation services.
  • Provide opinions and expert testimony when necessary.
  • Gather photographic evidence and investigate onsite conditions.
  • Attend and oversee field testing and site evaluations with engineering staff.
  • Establish repair scopes and engage professional engineers as needed to develop repair protocols and designs.
  • Perform forensic assignments within civil/structural engineering and building sciences expertise.
  • Inspect and assess building structures to identify defects, damages, or areas of concern.
  • Analyze structural, roofing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as necessary.
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and legal professionals.
  • Assist with litigation support, including site visits, evidence collection, depositions, and trial testimony.
  • Estimate repair and restoration costs based on evaluation and market analysis.
