Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of building, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical codes.
• Experience with city codes, ordinances and safety standards.
• Ability to interpret and enforce codes and provide guidance to contractors.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential, commercial and industrial projects for code compliance.
• Check plans against zoning setbacks and approvals.
• Issue certificates of occupancy upon project completion.
• Coordinate joint inspections with Fire Marshal’s office.
• Train and advise junior inspectors; supervise in the Chief Building Official’s absence.
• Maintain records using community development software.
