Job summary

City of East Point is seeking a qualified inspections professional to ensure residential and commercial project safety and code compliance through regular field inspections, including foundations, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

The role requires ICC/CBO or state licensing, along with experience in plan review and erosion control. The position supports coordination with Fire Marshals, court proceedings, and city officials, with a focus on enforcing codes and improving public safety.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma and a bachelor’s degree or 5 years of construction trade experience.
• Residential and Commercial ICC Certification, CBO or State License required.
• Ability to read plans and interpret codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conducts on-site meetings with clients/applicants.
• Assist in soil & erosion control site inspections when necessary.
• Conducts trade inspections and reviews submitted plans.
• Coordinates inspection assignments and schedules.
• Issues warnings, stop-work orders and citations for non-compliance.
• Inputs inspection reports into computer for access and storage.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Planning & Zoning leadership.
