Job summary

The Building People, LLC seeks an experienced Senior Building Automation Program Manager to lead deployment, integration, and management of smart building and IoT tech for DoD facilities. This remote role involves significant CONUS travel and occasional international travel, with client-facing duties and team leadership responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of relevant experience, including 5 years in leadership, and proven expertise with BACnet, LON, MODBUS, and BAS systems.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; team collaboration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Serve as main client contact and contracting staff.
  • Oversee planning and deployment of hardware, firmware, and software smart building and IoT technology.
  • Develop and manage all aspects of the project engagement from planning, subcontract and external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues and ensure overall project is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of the strategic objectives.
  • Maintain full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment to delivery.
  • Prepare detailed milestone-based project plans and regular reporting requested by the client for all phases of the project.
  • Perform internal quality control reviews to ensure project is proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards; analyze issues and troubleshoot problem areas; develops risk mitigation strategies; monitor and track resolution of issues and conflicts to ensure critical path deliverables.
  • Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones.
  • Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews as necessary.
  • Collaborates with the engineering team on the system configuration, network and software requirements, graphics, programming, and sequences of operations.
  • Effectively utilize company resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered.
  • At least seven (10) years of relevant experience, with at least three (5) in a leadership role.
  • Must have documented experience with BACnet, LON, and MODBUS, and other related HVAC and industrial control languages and protocols

Responsibilities

  • Travel up to 50–75%; may include international travel.
  • Serve as primary client contact and contracting staff liaison.

Job description

The Building People, LLC, has an immediate opening for a Senior Building Automation Program Manager, DoD (Remote - CONUS Travel). We are looking for an experienced professional who can work with minimal oversight to support a very fast growing and dynamic part of our business. Specifically, the SPM will manage the deployment, integration and management of smart buildings and internet of things (IoT) technology within federal and specifically Department of Defense (DoD) facilities. The ideal candidate will thrive in an environment where they can autonomously work with clients, lead team members and subcontractors to ensure project performance and delivery, and where appropriate identify growth areas for new work. This is both a client facing and team management role, and the candidate will both manage internal delivery teams, and, as needed, function as a site superintendent for building controls projects.

This position is remote when not traveling to support projects directly, though travel may be between 50% and 75% of the role. Travel may occasionally be OCONUS.

Required Experience & Skills

Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Experience working with federal and commercial clients IT systems and integration of new software/hardware platforms.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certificate
  • Knowledge of major building systems (e.g., HVAC)
  • Experience with firmware and hardware projects in addition to software based projects
  • An active Secret or higher clearance
  • Tridium Niagara 4 or other relevant BAS certification
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical field
Travel
  • Travel will be required. The majority will be domestic though, occasionally (less than 10%) it may also be international

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times
  • Salary offered will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, qualifications, and certifications.
