DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is seeking a highly motivated Senior Bridge Engineer (Civil Engineer III) in support of our growing bridge practice within Pennsylvania in our Moon Township, PA office. The ideal candidate will be able to perform conventional and complex bridge and structure designs, load ratings, and bridge inspections as well as enjoy involvement in the development and teaching of state-of-the-art bridge training material.

The successful candidate will have the upward mobility to develop into a Technical or Project Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Performing and managing structure tasks on conventional and complex multi-discipline projects from design through construction.
2. Performing and managing structure load ratings on conventional and complex bridges using hand calculations through finite element methods.
3. Strong technical ability able to lead, perform, and check bridge and structure designs to ensure accuracy with design codes and client requirements.
4. Ability to coordinate and communicate with other disciplines effectively.
5. Development of and adherence to scope, schedule and budget for structure tasks.
6. Ability to support bridge and structure proposal development through strong technical writing.
7. Ability to develop creative and innovative cost saving modifications to conventional designs through construction/value engineering opportunities.
8. Ability and desire to develop and teach bridge design training courses and reference manuals.
9. Assist Project Managers in ensuring that task and project schedules and budgets are met.
10. Prepares scope of work and man-hour requirements for proposals.
11. Assist with marketing/business development initiatives.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis from ABET Accredited University.
2. Masters of Science in Civil Engineering a plus.
3. 15+ years progressive experience in bridge design, analysis, rehabilitation and design-build is required.
4. Pennsylvania P.E. or ability to obtain within 6 months.
5. Expert with finite element software and other bridge design software.
6. Experienced with post-tensioning design and detailing.
7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
8. Dams, levees and/or bridge rail design experience is a plus.
9. Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
10. Strong organizational and time-management skills.

COMPENSATION
The approximate salary range for this position is $97,600- $135,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
