HDR is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer in Ann Arbor or East Lansing, MI. The position is responsible for the design, rehabilitation, inspection, and structural analysis of highway bridges and related infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and deliver projects that include bridge design, rehabilitation, inspection, and structural design on DOT and local agency projects, coordinating multiple concurrent projects.
- Coordinate staffing and workload with other managers to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Establish client relations and support marketing, contractual, and production activities to strengthen existing and future business lines.
- Collaborate with the Business/Accounting Manager, Project Controller, Company Controller, and the Area Manager or Managing Principal for project reviews.
- Serve on large national bridge projects, including mega alternate delivery projects.
- Lead technical aspects of bridge design projects and perform complex structural planning, analysis, and design.
- Supervise junior engineers on mid‑size projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (SE) license
- Experience with bridge engineering software such as LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB‑MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, MDX, SAP2000, CSiBridge, ADINA, RM Bridge, spColumn, LUSAS, STLBridgeLRFD, STLBridge
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of bridge design experience
- Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board in the location of assignment (PE or P.Eng)
- Hands‑on experience in all phases of bridge design projects
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and additional engineering software listed above
- Knowledge of ADINA, LUSAS, Bentley OpenBridge Designer and OpenBridge Modeler, Autodesk Infraworks, and Civil3D
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, and Prestress Concrete Design
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Project management experience is desirable
- Technical expertise in engineering analysis and design
